GOD’S SECOND COMMANDMENT



GOD’S SECOND COMMANDMENT

 

You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath.... You shall not bow down or worship them...” (Exodus 20:4-5, Deuteronomy 5:8-9, This is GOD’S SECOND COMMANDMENT).

 

 

GOD forbids the making, bowing, veneration or worship of idols:

“Do not bow to idols or make for yourselves graven images. I am the Lord your GOD.” (Leviticus 19:4, 26:1)

 

GOD Himself said that He has no physical form and therefore the argument that the idols were mere “representations” will not hold. He gives warning against the making of any form of representations:

“Take careful heed to yourselves, for you saw no form when the Lord spoke before you in the midst of the fire at Mount Sinai. Do not act corruptly and make for yourselves carved images of any form.” (Deuteronomy 4:15-16)

 

 

Furthermore, GOD also forbid the inclusion of idols on the altar to pray on:

“Do not put any graven images on the altar that you shall build for the Lord, nor any stone pillars, the Lord GOD hates them.” (Deuteronomy 16:22-23)

 

GOD curses the makers and worshippers of idols:

“Cursed is the one who makes any carved or molded images and worship it. It is an abomination to GOD.” (Deuteronomy 27:15)

“The carved images that the people of the nations prayed upon are made by human hands. They have mouths, but they do not speak; they have eyes, but they cannot see; they have ears but they cannot hear; neither can they breath. Those who made them and those who trust in them will become like them.” (Psalms 135:15-18)

 

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught:

“GOD is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24)

He also taught us to pray to our FATHER in heaven, who is unseen, and to pray in private, so that our prayers will be heard and answered. (Matthew 6:6)

 

GOD gave many warnings to mankind:

“Let no men deceive you with empty words, for because of these idolatries, the wrath of GOD comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.” (Ephesians 5:6)

 

GOD gave warnings specifically to Catholics. In the Bible, what is mentioned as Babylon pertains to Vatican:

“This is a message about Babylonia. Like a whirlwind sweeping across the desert, disaster will come from a terrifying land..... Suddenly, here they come! Men on horseback, two by two. The sentry gives the news, ‘Babylon has fallen! All the idols they worshipped lie shattered on the ground.’” (The Book of Isaiah 21:1,2 & 9)

“A second angel followed the first one saying, ‘She has fallen! Great Babylon has fallen! She made all people drink her wine – the strong wine of immoral lust!’ A third angel followed the first two, saying in a loud voice, ‘whoever worships the beast and its image and receives the mark on his forehead or on his hand will himself drink GOD’s wine, the wine of His fury, which He has poured at full strength into the cup of His anger! All who do this will be tormented in fire and surfur before the holy angels and the Lamb. The smoke of the fire that torments them goes up forever and ever. There is no relief day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, for anyone who has the mark of its name.’” (The Revelation 14:8-11)

“Come out, my people! Come out from her! You must not take part in her sins; you must not share in her punishment! For her sins are piled up as high as heaven, and GOD remembers her wicked ways.” (Revelation 18:4-5)

 

Everything that is happening in our world today was already prophesied in the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, in the gospels by our Lord Jesus Christ and in the Revelation. That is why the anti-Christ and his “church” was identified in Revelation 13 and 17, and warnings were given in Revelation 18. Mankind need to choose between the truth or falsehood, between light or darkness that pretends to be light, between the promise of salvation or the curse of damnation. It is all written, and GOD’s will be done!
